Spectral and angular differential imaging with SPHERE/IFS

چکیده
Angular differential imaging (ADI) and spectral (SDI) are commonly used for direct detection characterisation of young, Jovian exoplanets in datasets obtained with the SPHERE/IFS instrument. We compare performance ADI, SDI, three combinations ADI SDI to find which technique achieves highest signal-to-noise ratio (S/N), we analyse their as functions integration time, field rotation, wavelength range. observations known exoplanets, namely Beta Pictoris b, 51 Eridani HR 8799 e, five techniques. split into subsets vary each parameter before data processed technique. The techniques applied using principal component analysis (PCA). tests show that a combination consistently better results than alone, simultaneously (combined imaging; CODI) achieved best results. time test shows targets separation larger 0.24 arcsec observed an more 10$^3$s were photon-noise limited. Field rotation strong correlation S/N rotations up 1 full width at half maximum (FWHM), after no significant increase is observed. Wavelength range variation general broader ranges, but clear seen. Spectral information essential boost compared regular ADI. Our suggest CODI should be preferred processing search new SPHERE/IFS. To optimise direct-imaging observations, exceed FWHM detect small separations.

Differential diagnosis of pancreatic cystic masses with the quantitative analysis of spectral CT imaging: Initial results
Background: To retrospectively evaluate whether quantitative information derived from spectral imaging can improve the differential diagnosis of pancreatic cystic masses including pancreatic solid pseudopapillary epithelial neoplasms (SPENs), mucin- producing cysts and pseudocysts. Materials and Methods: From June 2015 to October 2017, 56 patients (22 pseudocysts, 18 mucin-producing cysts and 1...
متن کاملAngular Differential Imaging : a Powerful High - Contrast Imaging Technique
Angular differential imaging is a high-contrast imaging technique that reduces quasi-static speckle noise and facilitates the detection of nearby companions. A sequence of images is acquired with an altitude/azimuth telescope while the instrument field derotator is switched off. This keeps the instrument and telescope optics aligned and allows the field of view to rotate with respect to the ins...
متن کاملA test case for spectral differential imaging with SINFONI
Spectral differential imaging is an increasingly used technique for ground-based direct imaging searches for brown dwarf and planetary mass companions to stars. The technique takes advantage of absorption features that exist in these cool objects, but not in stars, and is normally implemented through simultaneous narrow-band imagers in 2 to 4 adjacent channels. However, by instead using an inte...
متن کاملImpact of angular differential imaging on circumstellar disk images⋆
Context. Direct imaging of circumstellar disks requires high-contrast and high-resolution techniques. The angular differential imaging (ADI) technique is one of them, initially developed for point-like sources but now increasingly applied to extended objects such as disks. This new field of application raises many questions because the disk images reduced with ADI depend strongly on the amplitu...
متن کاملThe spectral properties of differential operators with matrix coefficients on elliptic systems with boundary conditions
Let $$(Lv)(t)=sum^{n} _{i,j=1} (-1)^{j} d_{j} left( s^{2alpha}(t) b_{ij}(t) mu(t) d_{i}v(t)right),$$ be a non-selfadjoint differential operator on the Hilbert space $L_{2}(Omega)$ with Dirichlet-type boundary conditions. In continuing of papers [10-12], let the conditions made on the operator $ L$ be sufficiently more general than [11] and [12] as defined in Section $1$. In this paper, we estim...
